Our management has lost touch with the little people, who are truly responsible for the success of the company

R&D is very strong, and overall, the company leadership is now focused on the important things.

It seems that marketing could be better.

Smart people. Collaborative environment.
Opportunity to learn and grow continuously.
Access to latest and greatest technologies.

Execution is somewhat inefficient. Each engineering team developing its own tools for the same purpose. More sharing could help. Diversity helps supporting an innovative environment though.

Compensation plan was above average. Flexible work schedule.

Product and company identity-- a moving target. Six Sigma - obviously solves many manufacturing issues - but seemed to cool or slow inovation. Risk takers are gone -- left with "Titanic seat jumping" yes men.

It's just a pay check at this time.

Sun has lost it's way. Too many good people have been let go and others are bailing out while they can.

People are still being let go every week. One doesn't know if they'll have a job tomorrow.

The people are brilliant. The hours are entirely set by the employee. I can meet with 10 people at 9 am on the phone in my bed. When I do something great, I am told again and again. And innovation and inspiration are cultivated, not ignored.

People think we are going bankrupt, which couldn't be further from the truth. Also, I wish the food was free like Google's :)

Sun Employees can be either Geeks or Super Geeks or Uber Geeks.

The corporate culture surely rivals that of Google.

There goes the rumour that everybody in Silicon Valley worked in Sun at some point in time - so you make a lot of friends in the industry :-)

Sheer Technical Brilliance - A company Of Engineers, By Engineers, For Engineers.

We have no fucking clue how to market and position products. Take a cue on designing User Interfaces from Apple Inc.

Corporate culture, "maverick" nature of the company relative to competitors, CEO, position the company takes on very important social issue that are related to IT.

Sprawling corporate bureaucracy, difficult to get change implemented quickly, sluggish in some respects relative to the company's past performance.

Exciting products, fast paced, smart, loyal and hard-working employees. Always challenging the norm, encouraging creativity, rewarding/promoting accomplishments and working to improve every aspect of the business. Supportive of work/life balance. Opportunities are limitless for driven employees as every organization in Sun I've seen allows freedom in ideas and empowers every employee to make a difference and take action.

If I have to choose somthing....
A little more investment in recognition and 'fun'/team building would be nice.
