Work Place Environment & Idea's Cashier United States I am encouraged in a friendly manner to excell in my professional customer relations with all our customers as well as my co-workers. I am given monetary credit for exceeding general expectations. Praise and direction are plentiful coming from our leaders. I really enjoy our morning meetings to help everyone understand where we stand in various area's. I feel as if my input is valued. I would really like to see someone stationed at every fitting room doorway. I feel that too much is being stolen by strollers being taken into the fitting rooms. I feel helpless to improve this and keep it from happening. Once it is in a hidden place on the stroller we probably cannot stop them from leaving the store. I feel an effort to prevent would definitely be a responsible figure taking account of what enters the fitting room area would be a tremendous boost in our lowering or LP.

the great indoors dallas appliance sales United States the pay was good sears needs to filter though the management they have at store levels. they bring in a manager to the great indoors who basically treats the best employees it has like shit just to prove that he can. also while doing this he is cheating on his wife with one of the assistant managers at the store, which has been verified by seeing them together after hours at least three employees. it has been reported to sears ethics line, but they have looked the other way. no one trusts the ethics 800 number because as soon as you call even if you ask for your identity to be withheld it is given to hr and the store manager. the employees that work for the appliance dept. are constantly looking for another job and want out of that store. they are the only ones keeping that dallas great indoors store afloat. cant wait till they announce they will shut down tgi as it is a big money pit for sears and they cant crawl their way out. this is not due to the store but due to the current management at the store. ohh and also the employees do not trust their own department managers as most are backstabbing and have their own assistants threaten to quit when they cant take the crap spoken out of the store managers and appliance managers mouths. cant trust the ethics line and cant trust the managers equals a very bad mix in that store.

Eh... Sales Associate United States it was my first job. The pay was great for being in high school! However, over the course of 15 months I was there, the work environment wasn't that great. I mean I didn't mind coming into work all the time. As for job security, you pretty much was safe as long as you were nice, kind and kept decent numbers. Work-life balance was great! Even working part time, I had at-most 30 hours a week, and towards the end of my time there it was down to 15 hours. So basically it didn't consume my entire life. Salary and benefits were crappy for part time. The only real benefit that I got was the Stock Plan. I wasn't eligible for the 401K until after my first year, which at the time I didn't plan on staying much longer. it seemed like management wanted to find something wrong with you, your attitude and performance. As for recognition, it wasn't great at all. You were looked down upon from most customers because; once they realized they got ripped off on something they blame you! Career development isn't that great. I mean you could sign up for management level after 5 years or so (heck 2 years sometimes), and then boss people around. But you didn't have that much room to move up.

About Company Website: http://www.sears.com
Industry Sector: Services Size (no. of employees): over 20,000 Employment Opportunities: Click Here Sears, Roebuck and Company is an American mid-range chain of international department stores, founded by Richard Sears and Alvah Roebuck in the late 19th century. It operates in Canada under Sears Canada and Mexico under Sears Mexico. From its mail order beginnings, the company grew to become the largest retailer in the United States by the mid-20th century, and its catalogs became famous. Competition and changes in the demographics of its customer base challenged the company after World War II as its rural and inner city strongholds shrank and the suburban markets grew. Eventually its catalog program was largely discontinued. Sears merged with Kmart in early 2005, creating the Sears Holdings Corporation. The largest Sears store in the world, operated by Sears Canada, is 817,850 square feet, in the Toronto Eaton Centre. The largest American store is located at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. It has 416,000 square feet of retail space.
