High Point North Carolina - High Point is not only the furniture capital of the world, it’s also a diverse business community with industries ranging from manufacturing to biotech enterprises. High Point’s Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina, the 36th largest metro area in the nation, is home to 1.5 million residents. High Point’s location is key to its success. It’s the midpoint between Charlotte and Raleigh, Washington, D. C. and Atlanta, and New York and Miami. It’s surrounded by an impressive transportation network including I-40, I-85 and I-74. And, it’s only minutes from Piedmont Triad International Airport. The area thrives on its entrepreneurial spirit and because of this, new industries are always emerging. If he were to subscribe to a performance management system, two key components would be required: 1. It must be ongoing 2. It must match the strategy of the corporation (which continually changes) He believes that a performance management system is how you find talent, but annual reviews bog down the system because managers worry about how they will get their work done while sitting down one-on-one with far too many people. Plus, corporate strategy is continually changing therefore individual goals established earlier in the year will also change. Alternately, if you are managing performance, it is important to do so in the context of the job because performance is fluid.
