Don't Judge A Book By It's Cover Technician United States Job satisfaction largely depends on who your manager is, not the company you work for. In Hardware Engineering my immediate manager tries to be considerate and stands up for us people when we get blamed for other departments mistakes and poor planning. Unfortunately the manager above my manager is an ahole. He doesn't appreciate us one bit. He shoves new procedures down our throats without asking us for input. He decides our pay, but doesn't see how hard we work do on a day to day basis. He gave us a 2% raise last year and nothing before that. He gives my manager the responsibility but no authority.

Apple is a great company to work for! Programmer United States Apple hired me with very minimal "official" qualifications a few years ago. I was able to demonstrate my skill and they (especially my manager) had faith in my ability. Since then I have had 3 promotions, the last a HUGE one that nearly doubled my original salary. They appreciate creative hard working folks and they dont just show it in a yearly annual review where you get a pat on the back and your back to work. the only major thing that I don't like is the fact we only really get to see the innovations Apple is creating if they corrolate to our own jobs. I understand Apple's reluctance to share future technologies because of leaks, but doing so allows employees to make creative suggestions about how to improve those technologies. (And admittedly brings the happy geek out in everyone) :)

Apple Retail Creative and Mac Genius United States It's all based on the individual store, I worked in a NY store and it was nice, the pay was horrible but it was nice. The store I moved to in Texas was a nightmare. No recognition, the pay was worse than NY, many of the managers were from the GAP and other retail stores and it showed. They treated employees like children.

Could be better... Cashier United States Still an innovative company, Too much store politics and unfairness with promotion and overall employee treatment. Thinly veiled segregation and sexism when appointing for positions.

The Image UI Designer United States The corporate succeeded in creating great flattering image for the company over time. It does feel good to mention the company I work for... Sometimes it feels like we are in a big marketing mess (especially with all kinds of promises thrown to the air on big conferences...) Development is not agile enough.
